Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs

Registration for the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs Now Open

Providers should consider registering now for the Medicare and/or Medicaid EHR incentive programs even if they are uncertain whether they will participate once the programs are under way.  Registering does not obligate providers to participate.  Providers do not need to have a certified EHR to register.  Registering now will expedite the enrollment process if at a later time the Provider decides to participate.  To qualify for incentive payments, providers must register for the program.

To participate in the Medicaid EHR program providers must have a National Provider Identifier (NPI) and to participate in the Medicare EHR incentive program, providers must have an enrollment record in the Provider Enrollment, Chain, and Ownership System (PECOS).

Incentive payments are up to $44,000 under the Medicare EHR incentive program and up to $63,750 under Medicaid EHR incentive program.

More information on registration is available in the user guides for both the Medicare and Medicaid EHR incentive programs.
